Welcome to my blog!
On April 15th 2014 I’ll set out on a round the world trip starting in Iceland. Over the course of 20 months I’m aiming to see at least 22 countries across the globe and have some fantastic experiences along the way. I have recently left a job in analysis work which I had been at for just over a year and prior to that I studied Business and Economics at University.
This is only my second long term trip abroad and I certainly would not classify myself as an expert in backpacking although I hope to change this by the end of my journey. However, I would say I am in a situation that many young people are in today although they would not like to admit it.
The aim of this blog is to demonstrate how absolutely plausible it is for people my age to take a step back from settling down and saving up for that seemingly all-important mortgage, and go out and gain some life experiences that could turn out to be far more valuable than some bricks and mortar. I realise that this isn’t for everyone but for those of you who are tinkering on the edge and debating all the benefits and drawbacks of taking a step like this, I hope to provide some useful advice to base your decision on.
There’ll also be some general articles for the casual backpacker as well some more in depth stuff for the more hardcore amongst you.
I really hope you enjoy following and please leave your thoughts and comments (positive or negative) as I can only hope to improve with some feedback from the backpacking community.
Thank you & enjoy!
